Tom Fahey is one of New England's most notable video photographers. His work is seen regularly on some of America's best-known television programs. A love of documentary films guided Tom towards the network magazine genre. His bread and butter clients are 60 Minutes, 20/20, Dateline NBC, PBS documentaries and independent producers. Numerous programs he has shot have won national awards including the EMMY, The Peabody and Cine Golden Eagle.

Early in his career, Tom was employed in full-time positions producing and shooting commercials and corporate programs. Those jobs provided fundamental training and experience in the essential components of video photography: lighting, camera movement, composition and sequence construction. As Tom moved into the broadcast realm, he brought with him techniques learned, developed and mastered on high-end productions. Much of the look of the polished magazine story is a result of maverick photographers like Tom who integrated refined visual values with documentary-style shooting.

Producers repeatedly remark that Tom brings an important intangible to every shoot: an optimistic, confident personality. Tom understands that producers prefer to work with photographers with whom they feel at ease. Competence, too, is paramount. Money and reputations are always at stake. The work can be arduous. Respectful, open communication is essential. Bottom line? Tom wants to make an optimal contribution to every production he DPs. Producers consistently let him know he does just that.
